Armenian athletes performed excellently at the Balkan Championships in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, winning 3 gold medals and setting record figures.

As reported by the Ministry of Education and Science, Yervand Mkrtchyan won gold medals in the 1500m and 3000m. In the first case Mkrtchyan was unsurpassed with the result of 3: 47.60, in the second - 8: 12.02.

The third gold medal of Armenia was won by triple jumper Leon Aghasyan, who registered a result of 16.53 m in the struggle of 7 athletes, surpassing the second-placed Romanian Visan Florin Alexandrou by 38 cm.

For Aghasyan, this is the 6th gold medal in the championships of the Balkan countries.

In addition to medals, Armenian athletes set national and personal records. In particular, Alexander Donikyan set an Armenian record in the 100-meter run with a result of 10.44 seconds, occupying the 4th place in the championship.

Razmik Mkrtchyan, although he did not take any prizes in the 100m և 200m, but improved his personal indicators, registering a result of 10.96 seconds and 21.89 seconds, respectively.

Arman Hakobyan improved his personal indicators by registering a result of 3: 58.07 in the 1500m race, and Roman Aleksanyan registered a result of 1: 52.70 in the 800m race.
