THE SWISS PILOT MADE THE WORLD'S FIRST JUMP FROM A SOLAR-POWERED AIRCRAFT
Swiss engineer-pilot Rafael Domjan made the first jump from a SolarStratos solar-powered aircraft in the world. This was reported by SWI.

At 07:40 Swiss time, the SolarStratos plane took off from the airport in the city of Pierne in two directions with the test pilot Miguel Iturmendi և the second pilot, engineer-scientist Rafael Domժan.

At an altitude of about 1538 meters, Rafael Domzhan made the first jump from a solar-powered aircraft in the world.

He was able to open his parachute in time and return to Pierne airport, where he was greeted by Swiss pilot Bertrand Picard, who in 2016 traveled around the world on a Solar Impulse spacecraft.

The SolarStratos aircraft is 8.5 meters long and has a wingspan of 24.8 meters. It weighs 450 kg.
