Avishai Cohen is an Israeli jazz trumpeter, composer, singer, instrumentalist. He was born in Jerusalem in 1970. He started playing the piano from a very early age.

When the musician was 14, his parents moved to St. Louis, where he fell in love with jazz. After serving in the Israeli army, Cohen decided to learn to play the contrabass. In 1992, Avishai moved to New York. Initially he works as a laborer in the construction site, but gradually gains fame in the musical circles. He has collaborated with pianist Danilo Perez, Grammy winner La Cory, and has been a part of his projects.

Since 2003 he has started a solo career: "The stage is the place where Cohen feels at home," critics who highly value Cohen's and his trio's performances say.

Music critics say Cohen is endowed with all the traits characteristic of a real jazzman.
