“Since we are very close to Yerevan, our entire resource - mental, physical - flows to Yerevan. Youth life in Etchmiadzin is very passive, there are no youth centers, libraries and museums are not functioning properly. They need activation, and cultural events are less organized only on holidays. "
To tackle these and other issues, the New Etchmiadzin Youth Initiative is set up to bring together young people from Etchmiadzin and neighboring communities. The first step of the consolidation was the lecture "Effective Use and Promotion of Youth Potential in the Regional Life" held at the Hovhannes Hovhannisyan Library in Etchmiadzin. The main purpose was to identify the effective aspects of using youth and their potential. The lecture was delivered by Siranuysh Melikyan, a lecturer at Yerevan State University, who shared the successful experience of the Tavush region's youth communities on how to work, collaborate, and what is the formula for success.
New Etchmiadzin Youth Initiative was formed within the framework of a grant project implemented by Mitk NGO. The main goal of the project is to create youth initiatives in the communities.
The first step in the project was to organize a book collection in the Yeghegnut community. The books will be donated to the community school library. According to Yelena Harutyunyan, the next step will be to organize meetings with modern writers.
