Notre Dame of Paris
The Notre Dame de Paris Cathedral in Paris is one of the main symbols of the capital. It has a rich history which begins in 1163.

The cathedral has gained great popularity especially in 1831 after Victor Hugo's "Parisian Temple of God" novel. Based on the same novel, in 1956, The film "The Temple of Paris in Paris" was shot.

In 1996 it also starred in a cartoon which, up now, is one of the children's favorite cartoons. Unlike the novel, the cartoon has a good and positive end, like fairy tales.

On September 16, 1998, on the basis of the novel, the musical was also staged, which appeared in the Guinness Book of Records as a musical which has recorded the most success in the first year of its release. Our compatriots Patrick Fiori and Helen Segara also were among the actors in this musical.

As it is known in 2001, on January 29, France officially recognized the Armenian Genocide at all levels. In 2019 by the decree of French President Emmanuel Macron, April 24 was proclaimed as the Day of Commemoration of the Armenian Genocide. As in previous years, this year it was also planned to hold a commemoration event dedicated to the victims of the Armenian Genocide.

The Divine Liturgy was scheduled for April 22 at the Church of the Virgin of Paris. However, what happened on April 15 shocked not only the entire France, but the entire world. At 18:50 (local time) a strong fire broke out in the cathedral, which took about 7 hours to extinguish the fire.

According to the French Ministry of Emergency Situations, the main constructions of the cathedral have been preserved. They managed to save the thorn crown of Jesus Christ, and the roses of the 13th century windows are most likely to be lost. The central sting has also collapsed.

President Macron promised to rebuild the cathedral. A national fundraising was announced.

The cause of the fire is still unknown. According to one of the versions, it can be linked to the renovation of the building. It should be noted that bronze statues were removed from the cathedral in the past days to prepare for reconstruction․
