A celebration, dedicated to International School Library Day was held in Armenia for the first time
On October 23 a celebration, dedicated to International School Library Day was held in Armenia for the first time.

The celebration was held with the initiative of “Edit Print” publishing house. The publishing house donated 160 books to Yeghishe Charents Yerevan Basic School №67, enriching the library fund and re-evaluating the importance of school libraries. Works by Armenian and world classics, professional and fiction books: the list of the donated literature is extensive. A festive celebration was organized in the school, and “Charent’s book” greeted the guests.

Director of Yeghishe Charents Yerevan Basic School №67 Anahit Khechumyan emphasized the importance of the event. “I am very grateful to the publishing house for organizing such an event. The number of children entering school library will be doubled, tripled from today. What else do we need? The child should love books, reading. These books will find their unique place in our library”,-the director noted.

It should be mentioned that the publishing house plans to make the event annual and plans to donate books to any school library every year. The publishing house intends to donate books to regional libraries in the near future.

Since 1999, at the initiative of UNESCO, 4th Monday of October has been celebrated in different countries around the world as International School Library Day. The day is very popular among people; it has even become International School Library Month.
