Renée Fleming: the opera diva is in Armenia
Four-time Grammy Award winner and world famous Soprano Renée Fleming is in Yerevan for the first time and will be participating in the Yerevan Perspectives International Music Festival.

The concert featuring performances by the opera diva is set to be held on October 7 at Alexander Spendiaryan National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet with the Theater’s symphony orchestra under the direction of conductor Konstantin Orbelyan. Despite her stunning career, Fleming is not too well known in Armenia and is better known among narrow circles of classical music lovers.

Eritasard.am suggests taking a closer look at Renée Fleming.

Four Grammy Awards and the love of world media

Renée Fleming has performed in the world’s famous opera theaters (La Scala, Covent Garden, Glyndebourne, Metropolitan, etc.). She is better known for her performances of the songs in the operas of Mozart, Richard Strauss and Verdi.

Renée Fleming was born in 1959 to a family of musicians in Indiana, Pennsylvania. She studied at Eastman School of Music and debuted in 1986 (“Abducted from the Harem” by Mozart).

“A legendary singer whose starry shine is shimmering”, “Unquestionably, the most beautiful voice on our planet”, “Ruling queen of world opera”-these are the statements about Renée Fleming in world media.

The soprano’s voice is heard in the world’s most reputable opera houses, and her portraits are part of the permanent collection of the National Gallery of Art in Washington DC. The star’s designers are John Galliano, Gianfranco Ferre, Vivian Westwood and Vera Vang. Some of Fleming’s concert outfits are located at the Smithsonian Museum.

The singer’s autobiography has been reprinted 16 times and translated into 7 languages. Fleming has released her own perfume, and there are precious jewels that are named after her and have also been sold at Sotheby’s Design Auction.

Fleming: A remnant value

Renée Fleming’s recordings have been proclaimed as a national treasure and remnant value by the U.S. Congress.

Alongside her opera songs, Renée also sings the songs of pop and rock artists. Her voice is heard in the film “The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King”. Another Hollywood film featuring Fleming’s voice as the singing voice of Roxan (played by Juliana Moore) and Steven Spielberg’s film “The Adventures of Tintin” will be released soon. Fleming has recorded the song “Still Dream” for Dreamworks Animation’s film “Guardians of Dreams”. There are new victories ahead.
