Orchestra's joint concert with virtuoso pianist Dmitry Ishkhanov was one of the most unique and brightest events of the summer.
The concert was opened by the Symphony No.3 for String Orchestra by Vardan Adjemian performed by the Youth Orchestra. It is noteworthy, that the pieces by the contemporary Armenian composers have always been an indivisible part of the Orchestra's repertoire. For 8 years in a row headed by the Artistic Director and Principal Conductor Sergey Smbatyan SYOA has been holding the Armenian Composers’ Art Festival.
Written for the string orchestra this symphony in four movements is definitely one of the most brilliant pieces by the composer. Being dedicated to the great composer Edward Mirzoyan it is a tribute to the memory of the People's Artist!
The interpretation of the symphony by the Youth Orchestra and Sergey Smbatyan sounded perfect. The concert was attended by Vardan Ajemyan, the most strict critic, the author of the symphony himself, who thanked the musicians and was greeted by the audience with a thunder of applause.
The star of the concert's second part was wunderkind Dmitry Ishkhanov, who performed the Piano Concerto No. 3 (Youth) by Kabalevsky. The People's Artist of the USSR, composer Dmitry Kabalevsky is the author of three concertos for young performers. Paving the ways for many talents, these pieces serve as some kind of “visit cards” for lots of promising youngsters. 12-year-old Dmitry Ishkhanov astonished the audience with his virtuoso talent, the high level of performing mastery, the mature professionalism and seriousness.
Dmitry is famous all over the world: he performs in France, Italy, Germany, Netherlands, Denmark, Switzerland, Armenia, Russia, USA and other countries, performing jointly with the best orchestras in the world.
Dmitry was the prize-winner of numerous prestigious competitions such as International Competition of Young Music Talents "Rovere D'Oro" (2nd prize), XXII Young Pianists International Competition "Citta di Barletta" (1st prize), International Piano Competition “Golden Key” (1st prize), XXV Young Musicians International Competition "Flame" (absolute 1st prize), to name a few. The young Armenian musician has also successfully participated in the "New Names" International festival of young musician-performers.
…The first cooperation between the Youth Orchestra and Ishkhanov was undoubtedly successful. At the end of the concert, the audience didn’t let the young musician leave the stage without an “encore”. The concert of the young artist was certainly one of the best events of the summer.
