Young violinist Sergey Khachatryan also participated in the concert of the World Doctors’ Orchestra.
The long-anticipated benevolent concert of the World Doctors’ Orchestra was held in Yerevan and proceeds will be used for solving health issues of disabled children. This is the orchestra’s fourth concert in Yerevan after performances in Germany and the USA.

According to RA Minister of Health Harutyun Kushkyan, art and medicine are very close to each other and medicine is also a unique art. “This evening is very interesting and unforgettable,” said the Minister and proved what he said by awarded the founding conductor of the orchestra Stefan Villich with a medal of the Ministry of Health.

Proceeds from the concert will go to the “Salvation” disabled children’s center NGO. This was not the orchestra’s only concert as planned. On January 16, the orchestra gave a free concert. Present at the concert were the disabled for whom the proceeds will help improve their health conditions.

Children and youth with mental issues spend their afternoons at this organization and don’t have much to do throughout the day. As a sign of gratitude, they handed the doctor-musicians souvenirs that they had prepared.

The concert kicked off with a prelude called “Festive” by Alexander Harutyunyan after which the 80-member orchestra was joined by violinist Sergey Khachatryan who is popular and beloved in different corners of the world. The 24-year old violinist was born in Yerevan and has been living in Germany for many years now. Five years ago, he received the first prize of the Queen Elizabeth contest. In fact, Sergey’s violin was created in 1708 and its name was “Huggins” Stradivarius.

The concert was organized by the RA Ministries of Culture and Health under the high patronage of RA First Lady Rita Sargsyan. Among supporters were members of Armenia’s State Philharmonic Orchestra.
